First Holy Communion

In the Sacred Heart, children may be prepared for First Holy Communion when they are 7 years old or above and in Year Three or above.

Preparation sessions take place in the Old Hall on eight Saturday’s either in the morning or afternoon depending on which group the child belongs to. The sessions are not weekly, but are spaced out to make it possible for your child not to lose contact with other weekend activities (football, dancing and so forth).

Each child will attend the session lead by Fr Seán (without the parent).  After each session there will be some homework, with which you may need to help your child. If you need help with this, it is always available.

There will be a short test during session 4 to check that your child is ready to make their First Confession and again a test during session 7 to ensure they are ready to make their First Holy Communion.

First Communion is usually celebrated in 2 groups in May at the Sacred Heart Church. All of the children will also be presented with their certificates.

**** Registration forms are now available after Mass from Fr Sean.  The deadline for registration is 12 noon on Friday 15th September.  ****
