Baptism Preparation Programme

The Parish runs a Baptism Preparation Programme, six times a year, for parents wishing to have their children baptised

The Programme is lead by John Baron (020 8763 2144) assisted by Catechists - Debbie Nye, Karen Rattigan, Chris O'Connor and Elizabeth Hubbard-Brown

Outline of Programme:-

Parents complete an application form and submit it to Fr. Kieran

Parents then attend a couple of one hour evening meetings; God-parents are also welcome and encouraged to attend.  Typically there will be up to 10 family groupds on the Programme so it's a great opportunity to meet other parents and find out what Baptism is all about as well as understanding the responsibilities that are being taken on

Meeting topics:

Welcome and Introduction

Reasons for being Baptised

Outline of Baptism

Godparents

Names

Rite of Welcome

Baptism Service

Signs and Symbols

Offering to Clergy

Considering Ordination for ones children

Prior to Baptism, children are introduced to the Parish during a short Rite of Welcome at the start of a mass of their choice

At the end of the Programme, Parents make arrangements with Fr Kieran for a date for the child's Baptism; this can be an individual Baptism or shared with one or two other families
