Sacrament of First Holy Communion
The parish based pre sacramental resources for use with parents, guardians and their children has now been in use in most parishes here in UK for many years and acknowledged as being the optimum choice for use in the preparation scheme. This year in Caterham, we have opted for the Veritas Preparation Programme “Do this in Memory”. It is essential to offer parents/guardians, children and the parish community the opportunity to prepare together for First Communion. I say Communion, because for most of the children in the programme, they will have been present for many Eucharistic Celebrations long before they receive Jesus for the first time in Communion. The Sunday community has benefited from the infusion of life and energy which the children bring. As we offer Do This in Memory, we hope that the three partners of home, school and parish will work together to ensure that all are encouraged and challenged to be more actively involved in the sacramental preparation process. |

Dates at a glance
|
MarriageMarriage: According to Diocesan regulations, a couple intending to get married should make arrangements with the church at least 6 months in advance. They should check available dates for the church before making any firm commitments with a caterer so as to avoid disappointment. The church here at Sacred Heart is very popular for weddings. Couples are required to complete a pre-marriage preparation course. Couples will work with Fr Kieran in planning their ceremony. However, they can invite a priest of their choice to perform the wedding service on the day. |
