Can you offer a current John Fisher boy a work placement? Every year our year 10 boys spend two weeks out during the summer term gaining valuable experience in the work place. However, competition for places is fierce due to the high number of applicants from students around the borough, as well as companies now limiting their placements due to the current economic climate. Pre –Confirmation Preparation: Could I invite all those in year 9 to send in the Pre Confirmation Application Form, which is now in the porch, or on the parish website, www.sacred-heart.co.uk to reach the Parish Office by Sunday 19th February, if you wish to join the pre-confirmation classes starting on the Sunday 26th February for 5 consecutive Sundays during Lent at 7 pm. The applicants will go forward to receive their Confirmation in the Summer of 2013.
Reader’s Day: Barbara Hopper, Diocesan Liturgy Coordinator, will lead the day for Readers on Saturday 17th March. in the Old Hall. There are two sessions, to which those who are Readers can choose to sign up to: 9 am –12.30 pm or 1.45 pm—5.30 pm. The day will be both practical and informative.

Lourdes Live – a concert at Worth in aid of A&B Lourdes Sick Fund: On Sunday March 25 professional and amateur musicians from the diocese will be coming together at Worth to perform a varied programme of vocal and instrumental music to raise funds urgently needed to continue taking our sick and disabled to Lourdes. The concert, which will be opened by Bishop Kieran, will include a short address delivered by Adam Simon, A&B Lourdes Pilgrimage Director, and his eminence Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor will be in attendance. 2nd Collection: . Second collection today towards the Catholic Education Service. The Catholic Education Service (CES) promotes and supports Catholic Education in England and Wales. It does so on behalf of the Bishops’ Conference and in partnership with the 22 diocesan education services.
R.I.P. Please remember in your prayers the soul of Anthony Scott Thomas, who after a long illness died peacefully on Wednesday. Our deepest sympathy to Anna, his wife and to his parents Eileen and Barry. Scott’s Requiem Mass is on Monday 13th February at 12.30 pm. May he rest in peace.
Snooker Table: Does anybody have a pool table either for sale or to donate ? At the recent meeting of the Club Committee, it was decided to restore the upper room above the Club into a Pool Room, as it is rarely used in its present form by the parish.
Notice Board: A new notice board has been installed in the porch, next to the entrance to the Sacristy, to be used to advertise parish and non parochial social events taking place in the Hall. A full price list of charges for hiring the Hall is also on view. Those who are registered with the Parish and regularly attend the Mass here, (3 Sundays out of 4,) receive a 20% reduction.
Our Lady of Lourdes: Saturday is the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, marking the date of the first apparition to St Bernadette in 1858. It’s also World Day of Prayer for the Sick. Mass at 10 am.
Social Planning Meeting To help plan the next Parish Social event, there will be a meeting for anyone interested in making suggestions and helping on Monday 5th March at 8 pm in the Parish Office. Open to anyone to attend.
