PARISH OUTING   The next trip will be this Saturday, 5 December to the 2009 Dickensian Christmas in Rochester followed by a visit to the Dickens World/Retail Park in Chatham.  Cost  per person is £12 (coach only).  Pick up time 10am 37 Whyteleafe Road (not the car park). There are five (5) places left if you are interested please put your name on the list  in the porch.

0-7 CHRISTMAS PARTY   0-7’s, Christmas Party with Santa’s Grotto takes place on Sunday, 20 December starting at 11.30 am.  Admission is free but there will be a modest cost to visit Santa’s Grotto. Bar facilities will be available.  We need Christmas lights and Decorations and as many as possible to help “construct” Santa’s Grotto and decorate the Hall starting at 8 am on the 20th !

YOUTH ACTIVITY EVENT  Those who are 7 plus are invited to join Mark O’Dell and Team on Sunday, 6 December from 3.00 - 4.30 pm, for indoor Hockey, Volleyball, Basketball and Football, in the  de Stafford Sports Centre,  £2 each.  Please ring Mark to confirm. 07960-904425 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. PARISH SOCIAL EVENTS   The next Meeting will be this Tuesday, 1 December at 7.30 pm in the Presbytery.  All welcome.

READERS   On Sunday, 20 December at 5 pm, the Medway Brass Ensemble will once again lead us in our parish Carol Service at Sacred Heart. Jiffrey, the Filipino Tenor will also sing.  What we do need are readers, please add your name to the list in the porch, if your are available. Mulled Wine and Mince Pies will follow the service in the Centenary Hall. All welcome. The 5 pm Mass at St Thomas will take place as normal.

CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS EVE MASS   Once again I appeal to you for help with the organising of this Mass.  If you able to help, please contact Eliz Wood on 01883 348081.  In a parish that boasts of having probably the most catechists in the Diocese (over 40 at the last count) this task should not be expected of any single parishioner or priest.

PRAYER GROUP   The prayer group will meet on Thursday, 3 December at 8 pm in the Sacristy.  There is a book in the porch for you to write down your prayer intentions.  All Welcome.

ALTAR SERVERS   Please will all altar servers wishing to serve at 10:30 Masses on Sundays during December and January give their names to Daniel Nicholls or sign up on the list in the sacristy (even if they are on the most recent rota).  Alternatively, email their names to him at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. BAPTISMS   Today I will baptise Alicia, Holly and Kimberley Reynolds. Next Sunday I will baptise Ciara Pears.

Westerham Brewery   The Tandridge Catenian Association has organised a visit to the Westerham Brewery on Thursday, 3 December.  The tour, tasting and buffet is from 7.30 – 9.30 and costs £14. All welcome.  Details from Mike Wood on 01883 348081.

VACANCY   The John Fisher School, Purley have a vacancy for a Learning Support Assistant, application available from their web site on www.johnfisher.sutton.sch.uk with information on the school and job description.  Completed application forms should be sent with a covering letter to the Bursar by 12 noon on Monday 30 November 2009.

WEDDING    Benedict Allan Francis Farmer and Elaine Marie Fagan will celebrate their Marriage next Saturday at Sacred Heart at 1 pm.

YOUTH CHOIR   The youth choir will be singing Christmas Carols at both the Sacred Heart Christmas Fayre and the St Francis School Christmas Fayre.  There will be one practise to cover both events.  Practise Time 3.30 to 4.15, on Friday, 27 November at St Francis Primary School, Whyteleafe Road.  Performance Time 1.00, Date: Sunday, 29 November, Location: Centenary Hall, Sacred Heart Christmas Fayre.  Performance Time: 1.00 Date: Sunday, 13 December, Location St Francis Primary School Christmas Fayre.  We will not be singing at Mass again until early in the New Year.

Bags for Life Exclusive bags for life available at the Christmas Fayre priced £2.00 on the day.  The bags will be available in the Sacred Heart Shop after the fayre for £2.50.

KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS   Once again the Knights of St Columba invite you to help yourselves and use their “KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS” stickers which can be found in the porch.  There is no charge for the stickers but you may, if you wish make a donation.
