Christmas Fayre  The meeting to help organise the Christmas Fayre will be after the 10.30 am Mass today in the Parish Club. It should last no more than an hour.   This meeting is open to anyone  willing to offer their time, energy and ideas.

 

Second Collection    There will be a second collection today  for  the Home Mission Desk of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference which exists to support evangelisation nationally.

 

Flag  Yesterday marked Heritage Day in South Africa (www.info.gov.za/aboutsa ). The Flag is flying in celebration with all those from our community from South Africa. Don’t forget to let me know when your country’s national day is and provide the flag.

 

Baptisms  Next Sunday I will baptise Frederick James William Dettmar.

New Parishioners   There will be a welcome evening for all new parishioners who have joined the parish since this time last year on Friday 7th October at 7.00 pm in the Old Hall. Regular worshippers are also invited to come along  and befriend those who are new.

 

Eucharistic Ministers   Please sign on for one of the days being offered for reflection at St Cuthmans—Sundays 9th or 30th October. Sheet in porch. Barbara Hopper leading both days. Mass at 3 pm there.

 

R.I.P.  Please pray for the repose of the soul of John Knight who died this week. His Requiem Mass is on Tuesday  at 10 am . Deepest sympathy to his wife and family.

 

Folk Group—10.30 am   The Parish Folk Group play on the 4th Sunday of the month at the 10.30 am Mass, led by Karen Rapps. This group is looking for more instrumental players. If you can help, please ring Karen on (07761 561923).

 

Parish Women's Group - Quiz Night    A well attended, enjoyable evening, held last Friday week resulted in £1,200 being collected for COAT/C.H.E.C.K for their project in the two Schools in Kimilili, Kenya.  Thank you very much to everyone who bought a ticket or made a donation.

 

APF Red Boxes        Would all promoters please collect the contents of the red boxes from their members and either leave it in the presbytery clearly marked with your name and a phone number or hand it to me by 9 October.  Would any one in the parish who has a red box but does not have a promoter to collect their money please contact me. First Communion Programme Reminder for parents of children making their First Communion in June 2012.   The first parent’s session will be at 8pm in the Sacred Heart, Old Hall on Wednesday, 28 September.   The Enrolment Mass will be at 10.30, Sunday, 2 October. 

 

St Francis School Forms  For those whose forms I have yet to sign, can you bring them along next Saturday at  11.15 am to the Parish Office or after the 5.15 pm Mass next Sunday. Thanks.

 

In memory   A plaque to commemorate Anthony Charlier’s ministry here as Choir Master for 34 years will be installed on the wall next to our other deceased choirmasters and organists, on the left as you go from the church to the Old Hall.
